Studies

Besides homework projects every few weeks for art, we have to do a series of studies with a theme. I decided on eyes. At first, while I was deciding, I wasn't sure I should choose eyes, because it seemed kind of obvious and boring. But, I love to draw them, so I'm going to try to all types of different things with my studies to make them interesting. I'm going to use emotion, reflections, different compositions, whatever I come up with. My first few studies involve a straight-on and a slightly-turned view of my eye, and then one of my friend Magda's eye. They don't have particular emotion, but that's definitely something I'll be doing. I'll also try out different medias: colored pencil, acrylics, watercolor, pastel.

October 13th

My dad was born Friday, October 13th!

I've spent about 15 hours over the past two weeks on this painting for him, it was from a picture I took this year when we were on the Daniels Glacier, on our way up to the main summit!

I doodled the little thing and "what the hey?" on my hand while I was doing calculus homework last night... I was wicked confused about the topic and I could absolutely not concentrate. Since I'm taking calculus online through VHS, I'm basically teaching it to myself from an ebook... Hard!!
