Death Note

Ever since I was introduced to the Death Note from my brother's Japanese girlfriend, Miki, I've been a huge fan. Not only is the art awesome, but the story is amazing. It's complicated, and I love the literal genius of Light, L, Near, and Mello.

The story of the death note and Shinigami  is very interesting, but Tsugumi Ohba and manga artist Takeshi Obata turn it into something incredible. I highly recommend checking the series out!

I've yet to see the movie, but I definitely will asap!

Also, I'd recommend taking a look at the Veronica Fish's blog, to check out the new graphic novel, Pirates of Mars she illustrated (by JJ Kahrs), you can read the comic on Pirates of Mars or buy a special preview at Lulu, plus she has a discount code on her blog.

Black Lights

Tonight was the high school art show! I demonstrated watercolor, I'm painting a mountain from a quote in Frankenstein for my English class.. so might as well work on it! Over the past couple of days me and some other kids in our studio art class have been setting up our black light installation for the show. Basically, we took the big boards we hang art on, and put it against the wall to form a sort of triangle - but there was an entrance. We covered the top with a dark, thick sheet, and then inside included hung a lot of black-and-white artwork! We set up five black lights inside, and people at the show could walk in and check it out (It was like a little room)! Plus, you could put on 3-d glasses for a cool effect.

Peek puff

My cat Peekaboo died earlier this year :(
I kinda wanted to put some pics up of her, I like looking at them from time to time
Peeks had an attitude and hated to be held!
In her last few months she became outdoors-crazed

Photography

I have an interest in photography and graphic design aside from the studio arts. A lot of time I just like to take photographs of what I enjoy, or think is beautiful; I'm not looking for a particularly unique shot.

December

Hidden field, 2010

I'm excited that December has begun! I love the winter, and once December begins, I really start anticipating all the snowy days. I've been up to Wachusett Mt. twice so far, it's been open a little over a week, but there aren't many runs to choose from yet! My dad and I just went up and down Conifer 9 times both days we went; the second time, there was some new snow (i.e. snow-maker) and a few mini-moguls to work on my turns. I can't wait for some snow to actually build up and go cross country skiing, but cold weather would be good too (for ice-skating!) And, of course, I'll look forward to a break from school, though I don't get out till the 23rd. Thankfully, I won't have to work on calculus over the break, because that class is on break from December 15- January 5th (time to catch up on sleep).
